A very versatile variety, great for eating, slicing and adding to a salad or cooking with. It makes a rather impressive apple pie or flan as unlike the Bramley it keeps its shape once cooked.
The flesh is firm, juicy and sharp with a strong tart taste and amazing aroma.
It is a red version of an old popular Dutch variety, Belle de Boskoop and has yielded beautiful fruit and become well established. It is officially Charlotte and David Demes favourite apple and containing up to four times the Vitamin C found in a Granny Smith it is super healthy too.
